3rd European Innovation Summit Towards a European Innovation Ecosystem

The first part of this conference is organized by Ministry of Science and Higher Education and is taking place in the Novotel Warsaw Centre, on the 10^th and 11^th of October, under the 3rd European Innovation Summit umbrella in partnership with Technology Partners Foundation, a member of the Knowledge4Innovation Forum of the European Parliament and support of European Commission DG R&I.
 
This two-day event, organised in the framework of the 3^rd European Innovation Summit, aims to bring the relevant parties together, i.e. EU decision makers and politicians, representatives of national- and regional-level authorities, representatives of the academic and scientific communities, representatives of the public, businesses (including small enterprises), and EU citizens. The purpose is to obtain a greater cohesion within the European research and innovation system while preserving the freedom of EU regions and Member States to act independently.
 
The conference’s main challenge is to reconcile the idea of policy cohesion and flexibility as well as align these policies with the right instruments in achieving the best results. The conference will address issues, in which cooperation between the EU member states and regions is highly significant, such as:
 

• R&I strategies tailored to national and regional context – principles, areas and partners;
• R&I strategies tailored to national and regional levels–smart specialisation, building the ERA, broader participation;
• European Governance–policies and instruments for research and innovation: necessary synergies;
• Policy mix for research and innovation – tasks and targets, measurement and diagnosis, instruments.

The 3^rd European Innovation Summit has been granted the unique opportunity to present its conclusions – the lessons learned and policy recommendations – to the Innovation Convention, organised by the European Commission, on the 5^th and 6^th of December 2011.
