The conference will be a chance to debate progress in brain research in Europe and the situation of patients, with particular regard to the diseases referred to. Co-organised by the Ministry of Health and the European Brain Council, it will relate directly to a priority of the Polish Presidency - "Research on Brain Diseases, Strokes and Neurodegenerative Diseases, including Alzheimer's Disease".
The meeting is aimed at showing the significant demographic and health problems caused by diseases which are typical for advanced age, in particular brain diseases. It will be a chance to discuss improving the quality of access to care and treatment, intensification of initiatives at EU-level in supporting national health and social policy objectives and preparation of draft strategic solutions which will be presented in the post-conference conclusions. The meeting will be attended by representatives of the Polish Government, EU Institutions, scientists and academics, patients' organisations and NGOs. The date of the conference will be announced as the first European Day of the Brain.
