On 3-4 October 2011, Western Pomerania will be hosting and organising the International Conference ‘Organic Farming in Common Agricultural Policy beyond 2013’, organised as part of on-going consultations on the Common Agricultural Policy as well as within the framework of the Polish EU Presidency in 2011. The Marshal of Western Pomerania, Olgierd Geblewicz, invited to Szczecin representatives of partner regions from the German federal states of Bavaria, Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the French regions of Aquitaine, and Pays de la Loire as well as from the Swedish region of Skania. He also invited local government representatives from Western Pomerania and other regions as well as representatives of organisations supporting organic farming. The conference will focus on an analysis of organic farming in the European Union and will present suggestions and expectations in relation to the Common Agricultural Policy within this area beyond 2013. During the first day of the conference a presentation of organic farming development in the partner regions of Western Pomerania represented by France, Germany and Sweden will be made. Additionally, the state of organic farming development will be presented on the basis of the example of selected regions in Poland and in tWestern Pomerania. The second day will be an occasion to express the regions’ expectations in relation to the Common Agricultural Policy beyond 2013. The presentations will be summed up in a joint discussion which should be conducive to learning about various expectations and visions of organic farming development. This in turn should be very helpful in searching for optimum solutions within the framework of the Common Agricultural Policy beyond 2013. It is worth noting that honorary patronage of the conference was taken by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development as well as by the Polish Presidency of the EU Council in 2011. Participation in the Conference is by invitations only. For additional details, please contact the Conference Office: Damiana Nowak, phone: 91/44 10 203; email: rolnictwo@wzp.pl
